Creating Your Perfect Work
It’s a fact. Most people today will have several
different careers before they “retire”
– or “re-fire” or “pro-tire” as
I like to think of living in the later years. With longer life
spans, good health care and more opportunities, workers have
never faced so many choices in how to earn a living and make
a contribution through the self-expression called “work.”
My approach to creating your ideal work – whether that
involves working for yourself or working in an organization
– follows some specific steps.
- Perfect the Present
Everywhere you go, there you are. If you are unsatisfied where
you are, you may bring those habits of thought with you to
your new work.
We’ll work together to make your current situation as
perfect as possible.
- Who are you?
We’ll spend some time getting to know YOU – your
strengths, gifts, needs and values. There are a number of
assessments we can use to help you discover you – who
you are today. We’ll look at your purpose and why you
came to the planet in the first place.
- What do you want to create?
We’ll create a picture or a description of your ideal
job. This clarity of focus makes it easier to attract the
ideal position to you.
- What’s in the market?
Here we discover what’s “out there.” We
look at industries, types of organizations, etc. to see where
you might want to apply. Informational interviewing is part
of this process.
- The Sales Campaign
As you go hire yourself an employer, you are engaged
in a sales process. You are determining if there is
a match or fit between what you want and can offer and what
a prospective company can offer you. Resume creation, interviewing,
and networking are part of this stage of the process.
The length of the process depends upon how quickly you can move
through the stages and the timing of what’s available
in the market.

appointment by e-mailing patz@questcoaching.com.
We’ll review your specific needs and see if we are a good
match. If we are, we’ll get started!
